“You are what you choose to be today. Not what you’ve chosen to be before.” ~ Wayne Dyer
Learning and thinking are the gifts to human beings from Allah the Almighty. Only schools, colleges, and universities are not enough for teaching new things. In my opinion, life is the best teacher. Every life has different experiences but what makes a person different from others is their way of thinking; the way we take lessons from life. After completing our degree we think that we have achieved the pinnacle of our lives but in reality, the learning process never stops. Our learning process starts from the day we are born. We learn to interact with people, we learn to smile and talk, we learn to crawl, walk and then run, during this learning process we fall down several times, but every time we stand with more energy. So this learning process lasts throughout our lives.
It is not necessary that we only get knowledge from any scholar or any educational institute, we can get it through small things around us. I would like to quote an example here: Once, I saw a sculptor making a beautiful sculpture. He started with armature then he proceeded to add filler in it. I was impressed by how he converted that mud into a wonderful piece of art. It totally depends on his creativity how he reshaped his masterpiece. It is in his hand either to make a mesmerizing sculpture or a disaster. We are also like that sculptor who turns mud into a masterpiece. With negativity in our mind, we will remain mud which can’t be a masterpiece but our positive way of thinking makes us beautiful and we can set examples for others. Every day some good and bad things happen in our lives. It’s up to us what we pick from these experiences- either good or evil. We can make our life as beautiful as that sculpture or as worst as mud while sometimes, people remain stuck where they were present at the beginning because they think they have completed their learning process and achieved the pinnacle of their life.
According to Hazrat Ali (R.A)
“حصول علم کرو مھد سے لحد تک.”
In light of this saying, we should continue acquiring knowledge throughout life. This learning process should never be stopped. Life transforms every day until you find the right path. It is impossible to go in the past and set new and good experiences, but from learning lessons, from your past, we can make a productive ending.
