The brain is a very complex organ of the human body. It is responsible for regulating all functions of the body such as breathing, sleeping, motor activities, pain, and temperature, etc. Scientists have done a lot of research on studying the brain’s anatomy, as they believe that human behavior is closely related to the brain, and if there is any deformity or disability found in the brain, it can cause serious behavioral issues.
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. Neuroscience also explains that the brain is closely linked with behavior and mental illnesses. The neurotransmitters in the brain are chemical messengers, which carry, increase, and control the signals between neurons and target cells present in the body. Any imbalance in the amount of these neurotransmitters can cause serious mental problems. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter, that helps in sleeping, digestion, and eating. It also regulates anxiety and reduces depression. Low levels of serotonin can cause depression, anxiety, and sleeping problems, as it also assists to regulate your mood naturally. Depressive patients are usually treated with SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors), which boosts up the levels of serotonin in the brain. Dopamine is another important neurotransmitter, it contributes to the feeling of alertness, happiness, focus, movement, and motivation. Patients with a lower level of dopamine may experience reduce alertness and focus, poor coordination, and movement difficulties.
Injury to any part of the brain can also affect other body functions badly. The Cerebellum, a part of the brain that controls, movement, balance, and coordination (how muscles work together). Any damage to this part of the brain can cause the body to lose control and balance. Hippocampus is the part of the brain which supports memory, learning, and navigation; damage to this part of the brain influences the person’s memory and his ability to form new memories.
Our brain is responsible for every conscious and unconscious step we take. The brain is the only feature through which we can assess people with behavioral problems, to find out the real cause of their illness. If we want to know, how and why a person is showing a specific behavior; we need to study their brain for that, as our actions and movements are controlled by the brain primarily.
