“Language is best taught when it is being used to transmit messages.”
Like all other caring and concerned parents, you are trying hard to develop your child’s language skills, but facing a lot of difficulties? No worries now! In our today’s blog we’ll be sharing some amazing tips to improve your child’s vocabulary.
“Studies have shown that children who are read to and spoken with a great deal during early childhood will have larger vocabularies and better grammar than those who aren’t”
So, one of the easiest tips is reading, you must read a book for your child, with an amazing intonation, to make it sound exciting, kids will be able to understand different expressions too.
When they, observe your expressions they will be able to understand the meanings of the words easily and faster.
Read them a storybook every day, they will also show interest in reading, if they see you reading.
Keep talking and telling kids, about each action, for example; if you are going to have a breakfast then, tell them it’s a morning and in the morning, we make a delicious and healthy breakfast, open your mouth take a bite, etc.. keep on talking and repeating the words for them, they will store these words in their brain and will try to speak and repeat those words. It will greatly help your child in his language development.
If your child likes watching any cartoon, or a toy or anything else, then you can talk about it too.. how does it look? It’s tall, it is beautiful, it is crying, etc.
Never criticize or make fun of your child’s language skills, if he isn’t able to pronounce any word correctly, then you should pronounce that word correctly rather than repeating those words incorrectly, with your child. If you pronounce those words incorrectly, your child will not be able to develop language skills faster. He might take a long time period.
Take your children for an excursion, or field trips to different places where he will be able to learn the names of different important things. Like a zoo can be a good place to develop his language skills.
“The development of language is part of the development of the personality, for words are the natural means of expressing thoughts and establishing understanding between people.”
Maria Montessori
Best of luck!
