Generosity is defined as giving freely without expecting anything in return.
Nowadays we are noticing that every single person has a materialistic nature and its true that in today’s world or era it is very hard to find generous people with good and kind hearts. But still, each one of us expects generosity from others at times.
In the present time, when everyone is busy in their tough life schedule, somehow somewhere we are actually forgetting the values of people around us, we are far away to receive and give generously to the people/world.
Generosity means to give love, respect, and care with an open heart. There should be no other means to show or give generosity.
Being generous also makes us feel better about ourselves. Generosity is both a natural confidence builder and a natural repellent of self-hatred. By focusing on what we are giving rather than on what we are receiving, we create a more outward orientation towards the world, which shifts our focus away from ourselves.
“The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.”
In facts, our religion Islam praises Generosity a lot, the best of human beings Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ was an example of this. Unlike those who give charity with a reward in mind, whether it is respect, love, admiration, or loyalty.
Rasul Allah (Prophet of Allah) ﷺ expected none of these things. His manner was such that when one would take something from him, he or she would feel that they were doing the Prophet ﷺ a favor, and not the other way around.
About generosity our Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ said:
“Abu Huraira reported:
The Prophet, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “Generosity is near to Allah, near to Paradise, near to the people, and far from the Hellfire. Miserliness is far from Allah, far from Paradise, far from the people, and near to the Hellfire. An ignorant generous person is more beloved to Allah the Exalted than a stingy scholar.”
[Sunan At-Tirmidhi Hadith #1961]
So, be generous and kind to everyone, even your one appreciating word or your smile will encourage someone.
“Generosity is a quality of the spirit, when you feel generous your life becomes abundant, full of compassion and love “
