Witnessing the month of Ramadan has been such a blissful experience but now there are only a few days left in its conclusion. The King of all the months is now departing us. How sad is this moment in a believer’s life when something so precious is departing. All good things must come to an end, and so must Ramadan. Be sad that now the time has come that this Superiority must depart us. Ramadan is like an elevator, whoever can get on that elevator and make use of it will be elevated closer and closer to Allah.
Today marks the Last Friday of Ramadan which is also known as “Jumu’atul-Wida”. Jumu’atul-Wida means “Friday of Farewell”. The word “Jummah” comes from the word “Jamm’a”. It means “To Gather” as the people gather on this day to offer the prayer in the congregation. There is equality in terms of reward for all the Fridays of Ramadan but since it’s the last Friday, Muslims hold its importance dearly as it is the last one before the month of Shawwal.
The Day of Friday is the day of Mercy and Blessings. It is regarded with great importance and holds magnificent virtues. Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A) reported the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday; on it, Adam was created, on it, he was made to enter Paradise, he was expelled from it. And the last hour will take place on no day other than Friday”
On this day, Muslims go to the Mosque (Masjid) to offer congregational Jummah Prayers. Allah The Almighty Allah has advised us to leave all the worldly matters behind and dedicate our time to the remembrance of Allah. Allah The Almighty says in Surah Al-Jumu’ah:
“O you, who have believed, when the Adhan is called for the Prayer on the day of Jumu’ah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allah and leave trade. That is better for you if you only knew”
Muslims are advised to hasten to reach the Mosque to achieve the blessings of entering early as angels are on the gates keeping the record of those who enter. Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A),
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “On every Friday the angels take their stand at every gate of the mosque to write the names of the people chronologically (i.e. according to the time of their arrival for the Friday prayer) and when the Imam sits (on the pulpit) they fold up their scrolls and get ready to listen to the sermon.”
The purpose of Friday Prayer is the remembrance of Allah. The prayer along with the sermon reminds us about the laws of Allah and endows us with wisdom to be internalized.
Friday is called the Day of Gathering, because it’s a simulation of what will happen on the Day of Judgment. Allah will call and the people will come out of their graves. They will gather to the call of Allah and this simulation happens every single Friday when the entire community gathers to hear the word of Allah and prays together. In this way, we are being reminded of our Resurrection every single Friday
One of the blessings of Friday is that there is a specific time in which if a Muslim makes a Dua, Allah The Almighty will fulfill it if it is better for him/her.
Narrated by Hazrat Abu Huraira (R.A):
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) talked about Friday and said: “There is an hour (opportune time) on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while praying and asks something from Allah, then Allah will meet his demand.” And he (the Prophet ﷺ) pointed out the shortness of that time with his hands.
We are also advised to send peace and blessings on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the one who sends blessings on Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Allah The Almighty sends His blessings on him ten folds, forgives ten of his sins, and raises him ten degrees in status.
Indeed, Allah has blessed us with many favors. In the month of Ramadan, the Devils are chained and all the Muslims are engaged in doing good deeds but the most important aspect is to make sure that we purify our intentions and eradicate our bad habits.
We still have a few days left of this blessed month of Ramadan so we should continue seeking the forgiveness of Allah more and more. If we have achieved forgiveness, we have achieved the purpose of the month of Ramadan.
Oh, Ramadan! We will miss your sacred nights and blessed days. We are going to miss the Barkat of Sahar-o- Iftar. So, let’s promise ourselves that in these final days of Ramadan we will change ourselves and follow the good deeds even after Ramadan!
May Allah bring us near to Him, forgive our sins, accept our fasts and prayers, and help us to remember our purpose in this world. Ameen
