Almost everyone of us have faced the circumstances which were indeed the most difficult time of our lives, let it be the most difficult assessment, the first job interview, financial crises, betrayed by a friend, losing a job or death of your loved one. We thought we couldn’t make through it, but not only we made through it but emerged even more stronger.
Resilience doesn’t erases the trauma or grief, but it lets you understand that harships and difficulties are a part of our lives and allows you to work through your feelings and recover.
We all face hardships and we all get overwhelmed when the situations are out of our control, but to cope up with the situation and not letting the situation control you, is what a resilience is.
Homeostasis is a biological term and it’s meaning is “the ability or tendency to maintain internal stability in an organism to compensate for environmental changes”. This is the main key to resilience, to keep on trying really hard but also to take a pause in between and recover and then try harder again.
And indeed, Allah has mention in Al-Quran:
فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
Verily, with hardship comes ease
[Surah Ash-Sharh (The Relief) [94:6], Qur’an]
