Life is a beautiful gift granted to us by Allah The Almighty, and one of the most important blessings that we have been honored with is being Muslims. We have been sent to this world with the purpose that is to worship Allah. We will be tested in various aspects to determine those who truly strive in His cause.
In life, we experience days of ease and difficulties. Whenever we face a loss, setback, or rejection, we become depressed and lose hope. It is important to remember that Allah is the knower of the unseen and has complete knowledge about every matter. The most important thing is to trust Allah for remaining steadfast in following the path of The Almighty.
The meaning of the word “Tawakkal” is complete reliance upon Allah. He is in charge of everything and knows the best. It means that we don’t know what tomorrow will bring to us, but we believe wholeheartedly that:
“Indeed, my Lord is with me; He will guide me.”
(Surah As-Shu’ara)
From the stories of Prophets and his companions, we also gain an insight into how to remain hopeful. When Hazrat Musa عليه السلام was leading his followers to escape Fir’aun and his army, they came across the Red Sea. Allah The Almighty miraculously helped them by splitting the sea for them as nothing is impossible for Him.
Allah has given glad tidings to those who are patient. He has instructed not once but twice in The Holy Quran that with difficulty comes ease.
He says in The Holy Quran
“So, surely with hardship comes ease” (Surah Ash-Sharh)
Such profound words can help us to navigate our way towards the closeness to Allah as He is our protector and guardian.
Being sad about a situation is not the same thing. When someone is sad, shaitaan convinces them to believe that there is no hope left and makes one believe that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. On the one hand, Allah gives the license to believers to express their emotions; to be able to feel the sadness, and on the other hand, Allah advises them not to fall into hopelessness. We connect to Allah with the belief that He will help us in every difficult situation.
Allah The Almighty is the one who sends down tranquility and guidance into the hearts. We must make sure to maintain our link with Allah at the time of both ease and difficulty, to thank and praise Him for all the blessings, and to acknowledge His favors upon us as Allah The Almighty says in The Holy Quran, “If you are grateful, I will certainly give you more” (Surah Ibrahim)
May Allah make us of those who are a source of righteousness and peace for others. Aameen
