Throughout our lives, we tend to have the habit of completing tasks on our own but then we also experience moments where we feel the need for assistance from other people. Sometimes, carrying the load all by ourselves and not taking any help from others becomes exhausting and tiring. It is in those moments we should realize that it is acceptable to ask for support and if we also come across those who are in need, we should be readily available to ease their task to lighten their burden.
I remember the time when I was in college. It was one of those days when I had seen an elderly lady who was facing difficulty while walking, she had asked me for directions in the college and was there to collect the voucher for her daughter. When I realized that it won’t be easy for her to fulfill the requirements and collect the voucher on her own, I managed to assist her and was able to get the task done. On receiving it, she was really happy and content.
Helping others is also encouraged in our religion. There is a Hadith of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم : “Whoever relieves a Muslim of some worldly distress, Allah will relieve him of some of the distress of the Day of Resurrection. Allah will help his slave as long as he helps his brother”.
Fraternity and brotherhood are the essence of our religion along with looking out for one another when we feel that the other person might need some assistance. By helping others, we also help ourselves. We can achieve happiness and understanding among each other and also gain rewards from Allah.
Allah the Almighty says in the Holy Quran:
“And whatever good you put forward for yourself, you will find it with Allah ” (Surah Baqarah)
A fact to be highlighted is that we do make a difference in other people’s lives by simply being there for them; by being considerate and generous. We uplift others by assisting them in any way whether it’s through guidance, advice, or by just lending our ear. One thing is for sure, the world needs kindness in all its forms.
“No act of kindness is too small. The gift of kindness may start as a small ripple that over time can turn into a tidal wave affecting the lives of many”
